Typically we are out Monday to Friday and home on the weekends. Weekend travel is rare . We try to be out for two weeks and in the office for one week then repeat that process. While that is not feasible all the time we do try. Our peak travel season typically is late February to November. Our travel is national and can be anywhere across our network.



Duties:

Plan, coordinate, prioritize, and execute the activities and workflows necessary to collect and post process Point Cloud Data to support safety-critical systems and initiatives in a Team environment. Understand the proper use of a Change Management Process. Perform activities involving LiDAR Point Cloud collection, post processing and extraction. Perform quality assurance (QA) and control (QC) tasks as needed to verify data collection accuracy. Compose status reports on projects clearly and in a timely manner.


Qualifications:

College degree with a minimum of 2 years CAD/GIS/LiDAR experience preferred.

CAD/GIS/LiDAR experience in Transportation infrastructure is desired.

Experience in LiDAR Point Cloud collection and Extraction software technologies is a plus. Experience with GIS software is a plus.

Previous transportation (railroad preferred) experience is a plus.

Qualified applicants must demonstrate above average organizational skills and a desire to drive for results.

Must be self-directed, motivated and have good interpersonal and communication skills.

May be required to work irregular and flexible work schedule.

Must be willing to learn safe railroad operations and practices.

Must have ability to communicate well (written/oral), one-on-one and in groups.

Must be safety conscious and able to support and contribute to a strong safety process.

Must be willing to travel approximately 80% of the time.


Work Hours Mon-Fri 8-5

Before field work, will need to be in office at start to be trained.

Must be USC or GC only.

80% travel, when in office Tuesdays, Wed and Thursdays are in office.

Nov-Feb are mostly in office as it is too cold to go out and collect data.

Will run LIDAR equipment and collect LIDAR data.

Needs a GIS background.

There will be OT due to field work.

On travel weeks, they will fly out on Mondays and fly back on Fridays.

Weekend work is extremely rare.

Expenses will be reimbursed but contractor will need to pay the costs up front.

Will generally collect data/travel 2 weeks in a row then be in office for a week.

High detail is extremely important.

Being safety conscience is extremely important.

Teams consists of collectors (3), as well as analysts (4).

Interviews will be onsite, hopefully starting the week after Thanksgiving.

Travel locations include anywhere that there are BNSF tracks (anywhere from LA to WA).

New grads with GIS degree are welcome.

Could possibly move from this role to an analyst role down the road should an opening become available.

45$ per day per diem during travel times.


USC or GC candidates only.


Travel time is from Feb/March to Nov/Dec


2 weeks on the road and 1 week in the office.


Prefers 1 onsite interview.


Willingness to travel is extremely important for this role.
