Purpose of the Position: The School Psychologist applies psycho-educational principles and knowledge in the assessment, classification, treatment, and education of children with school-related learning, social and emotional difficulties while providing leadership and professional development to drive the collaborative education program, and ensure compliance to established policies, procedures and/or regulations.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Consult with administrators, teachers, parents, and appropriate agencies (e.g., physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, mental health professionals, etc.) in planning of educational and therapeutic programs.
  • Recommend appropriate educational interventions and special education supports.
  • Conduct individualized assessments according to student needs including cognitive, academic, social/emotional, adaptive, and behavioral development.
  • Interpret and analyze assessment results and discuss implementations for the student's instructional program needs
  • Prepare written reports for each student evaluated within the expected time parameters.
  • Participate in the development and revision of IEPs as needed.
  • Maintain required timelines for conducting evaluations and re-evaluations
  • Participate in developing school services that promote positive mental health and effective learning environments
  • Collaborate in master schedule planning for the special education program
  • Other related duties as assigned
  • Adherence to FERPA and HIPAA confidentiality requirements

Minimum Skills or Qualifications:

  • Requires a Master’s degree in school psychology from an accredited institution
  • Arizona Dept. of Education School Psychologist, PreK-12 Certificate
  • Completion of a minimum of 1200 hours internship
  • AZDPS IVP Card, DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance
  • CPI, and/or CPR certification helpful

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes
  • Requires frequent reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, running, carrying, and lifting 50 or more lbs.
  • Must be able to see and hear within normal range with or without correction.
  • The noise intensity level may be moderate to high
