Job Description

 

Title:                    PK Transitional Program Lead Teacher


Reports to:        Principal & Instructional Coach


Start Date:         Aug 2024


Status:               Full-Time

 

Position Summary:


The PK teacher is responsible for creating, directing, and implementing effective teaching strategies for English Language Leaner students in a bilingual environment in order to motivate, stimulate, and inspire them to develop the necessary skills in both Spanish & English to be successful in predominantly English-speaking classrooms.


Education, Experience, and or Certification:

 

·       Fluent in Spanish & English (Reading and Writing)

·       Associates Degree from an accredited Early Childhood Program (Bachelor’s Degree Preferred)

·       The familiarity of bilingual and ESL coursework, and curriculum

·       Competent in “Best Practices” teaching methodology

·       Active First Aid Card


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·       Plan and Implement the Bilingual Education program aligned with the Illinois Early Learning Standards.

·       Provide instruction individually and in groups

·       Diagnose student needs and provide activities to nurture the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical

development of each student.

·       Establish and maintain standards of child behavior appropriate to pre-school

·       Develop lesson plans and instructional material as part of planned learning experiences

·       Create a functional and attractive environment for learning

·       Maintain open continuous communication with parents through personal conferences and group meetings

·       Complete all required reports including student evaluations including progress reports and report cards

·       Demonstrate and teach Christian Values


Other duties and responsibilities:

 

·       Attends faculty and other meetings as required

·       Take attendance daily

·       Assist in selection of the instructional materials, supplies, and equipment

·       Complete all DHS Certification courses as needed

·       Assist Spanish Speaking parents with technology and communication needs
