Job Title: Write-Up Inspector

Role Summary: Responsible for inspecting completed railcars to ensure adherence to company, AAR, FRA, customer, and TRPI quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of incoming and outgoing railcars to meet FRA, DOT, and customer requirements.
  • Verify receipt of necessary customer and regulatory information before inspection.
  • Identify defects and non-conformances in line with AAR, FRA, and customer guidelines.
  • Prepare detailed write-ups of repairs and non-conformances, including cost estimates.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and communicate findings to supervisors.
  • Coordinate with customers regarding inspection outcomes.
  • Review and update manuals such as Standard Repair Manuals and FRA Regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.


Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in reading drawings and basic math skills.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 6 months in a repair environment with exposure to various railcar types.
  • Welding and NDT experience preferred.
  • AWS Certified welding inspector VT Level II or ability to obtain certification.
