POSITION SUMMARY:

We've partnered with a PE backed company to find and hire a Director of Operations. They have grown organically and through acquisition allowing them to expand their footprint across the US with distribution facilities in two states and 3PL's in two more states.


As the Director of Operations, you will oversee distribution operations for the company which includes managing receiving, handling, storing, picking, and packing activities while ensuring that quality standards are met for inventory accuracy, OTD, on-time and in full, and other KPI's.


You must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple facets of distribution operations simultaneously. They are looking at additional acquisitions where you would lead the physical integration of any newly acquired companies.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency, with customer satisfaction as the primary goal, by supervising, organizing, and training employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing operational goals.
  • Works cross-functionally to implement a scalable SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operations Planning) strategy to support multiple business channels and locations.
  • Reviews and refines workflows, staffing requirements, space allocations, equipment layouts, and action plans that meet company standards for productivity, quality, and customer service, continually improving the effectiveness and efficiency of processes, operational systems, and technologies.
  • Manages 3PL / distribution strategy in different parts of the country.
  • Nurtures a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and by complying with legal regulations.
  • Inspects equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversees general maintenance when necessary, ensuring a safe work environment for all associates.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, oversee the operations of the business including order entry, customer service, receiving, fulfillment, physical acquisition integration and quality.
  • Interview, hire, and facilitate training of the operations teams
  • Conduct regular 1x1 meetings with direct reports
  • Identify and address performance gaps through performance management
  • Perform performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Take corrective actions and termination in accordance with company policies



NECESSARY SKILLS, BACKGROUND & COMPETENCIES:

  • 10 years of experience of progressive operational leadership and a demonstrated track record of success as an operational leader in a dynamic business with multiple sites.
  • Adept at motivating a team, improving standard operating procedures, establishing best practices, and creating KPI’s to monitor and continuously improve business performance.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP and MRP systems, NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Effectively able to coach and lead others with a can-do attitude fostering a culture of problem solving, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Bachelors degree required in Business or related function(s)
