Biomechanical Engineer

Position: Senior Biomechanical Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Leesburg, VA

Duration: 12+ Month W2 Contract

Pay: $60 - $75/Hr Based on Experience

Overview: Join our R&D team to support EU MDR projects by creating technical documentation and test reports for medical devices, including implantable devices and instruments. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in laser marking and help develop the AIDC (Automatic Identification and Data Capture) path for the Spine Division.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define project scope by assessing product characteristics and supplier capabilities.
• Review capability studies from other divisions to identify synergies.
• Create Engineering Analysis documents using mechanical engineering knowledge and technical writing skills.
• Collaborate with the test lab to conduct capability studies on AIDC 2D barcodes, focusing on durability and material compatibility.
• Engage with the Sourcing Team to discuss supplier capabilities for AIDC 2D barcodes.
• Research AIDC 2D barcode readers to ensure compliance with ISO29158 and Minimum Grade C standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Manage the development of laser marking solutions throughout the entire lifecycle.
• Coordinate activities between different divisions.
• Collaborate with various teams (Project Management, Sourcing, Manufacturing) to assess risks for development activities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in biomechanical engineering or related areas.
• Strong attention to detail and knowledge of engineering best practices to ensure compliance with EU MDR standards.
• Familiarity with Teams/SharePoint for collaboration.
