Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Location: Stokesdale, NC

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Division: Engineering

Reports To: Captial Projects Manager


Job Purpose

  • The purpose of the Electrical Engineer (with Siemens experience) is to safely execute planned maintenance activities to eliminate machine breakdowns.
  • Identify root causes and solve any electrical faults that may arise on the line timely to ensure NOP (Net Output per hour), Waste and Efficiency targets are met.
  • Provide electrical controls & process engineering expertise to drive improvement in efficiency of the production lines net output and scrap through applying your technical knowledge to design and implement both small and large projects.
  • Expertise is required in the following areas.
  • Experience with the Siemens PLC required.
  • Utilizing electrical controls and automation knowledge to provide state-of-the-art solutions.
  • Identifying process improvements & transferring electrical knowledge to key personnel.
  • Programming & troubleshooting of control systems.
  • Good design and project management methodologies.


Main Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Participate in drawing and executing the planned preventive maintenance schedule to eliminate machine breakdowns.
  • Develop initiatives for effective utilities usage, driving utilities reduction projects.
  • Utilize expertise in controls & process to identify opportunities to drive efficiency improvement to improve NOP (Net Output per hour) and scrap.
  • Effectively identify the root cause of machine breakdowns and solve the breakdowns to minimize lost production time to ensure NOP (Net Output per hour), waste and efficiency targets are met.
  • Develop ideas to viable solutions, design and implement to improve the processes.
  • Provide electrical controls expertise on the production line equipment as well as plant service equipment.
  • Investigate / troubleshoot equipment problems and provide effective solutions.
  • Lead/participate in design reviews or other project requirements as the electrical expert for the plant.
  • Review and maintain the electrical standards for the plant in line with Ontex Global standards.
  • Participate in internal workplace audits.
  • Supervise electrical contractors on site.
  • Participate in focused improvements projects in the plant to enhance safety, ergonomics, efficiency and reduction of costs.


Job Requirements

  • Support the training and development requirements for the site electrical team.
  • Must have 3-5 years of Siemens experience.
  • Creation and training of technical documentation as required.
  • Development and implementation of Lean principles within area of responsibility.
  • Provide feedback to the electrical department to facilitate updating of maintenance procedures.
  • Assure attainment of business objectives, production schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Duties may be varied from time to time consistent with the employee’s training and skills. Such varied duties are to be performed to standards which will be specified as required.


Job Complexity & Challenges

  • Specialized process equipment and controls.
  • Supporting a production operation that runs 24 hours.
  • Multiple control systems and PLC brands (Siemens and Allen Bradley).
  • Improving consistency of operation through the application of improved controls and Lean principles.
  • Working with a diverse and multicultural workforce on a rotating shift pattern as well as engaging overseas engineering & technical assistance when required.
  • Participate in drawing and executing the planned preventive maintenance schedule to eliminate machine breakdowns.
  • Timely and accurate troubleshooting of machine breakdowns on machines to get the right root cause to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Solving machine breakdowns timely and effectively to minimize machine downtime and ensure NOP (Net Output per hour), waste and Efficiency targets are met.
