Company Description

South Asian Marrow Initiative (SAMI) is a 501(c)3 (pending) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to providing cures for patients suffering from blood cancer and other blood diseases. SAMI accomplishes this by hosting drives and events nationwide to educate and register potential live-saving donors into into the National Bone Marrow Registry.

Role Description

This is a volunteer role for a local Chapter Founder & President. As a Chapter Founder & President, you will be responsible for establishing and leading a local chapter of SAMI in your city. This includes organizing and hosting drives and events, recruiting volunteers, and spreading awareness about SAMI's mission. You will play a vital role in helping patients in need of a marrow transplant and making a difference in their lives.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and remotely
• Passionate about the mission and goals of SAMI
• Ability to motivate and engage volunteers
• Experience in event planning and coordination
• Knowledge of social media marketing and promotion
• High school, pre-med or health oriented college student, or medical students encouraged to apply for this role or to take another role on the team

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year commitment preferred
• Build your local team including 1) Director of Event Planning 2) Director of Volunteer recruiting 3) Social Media Director 4) Director of Fundraising 5) Day of Event Coordinators
• Lead your team to host minimum 2 events per month
• Minimal fundraising for local chapter startup costs
• Network with local South Asian organizations, temples, restaurants, event organizers to educate and gain in-kind donations and permission to host tabling events at their venues
