A leading energy marketing & trading firm is looking to add an Experienced Financial Power Trader to its Houston team. This firm is active in all major power trading markets, including CAISO, Ontario IESO, ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, MISO, SPP, AESO, and ERCOT.


Working model: On-site (5 days a week)

Location: Houston


Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Financial Power Trader to focus on proprietary power and natural gas trading, with an emphasis on PJM, MISO, and/or Northeast markets. The position is based in the Houston office.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Trade proprietary prompt-to-term financial products in PJM, MISO, NYISO, and ISO-NE.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and fundamental research related to the Eastern Interconnect.
  • Collaborate with the trading desk to exchange market insights and strategies.
  • Partner with Origination to price and manage structured deals as needed.
  • Work closely with Compliance, Risk, and Credit teams to ensure sound governance and risk controls.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics from a leading university.
  • 5+ years of experience in physical and financial power trading.
  • Expertise in trading heat rates, locational spreads, and time spreads.
  • Option trading experience is an advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of power and gas fundamentals in the Eastern Interconnect.
  • Familiarity with RTO/ISO market rules and tariffs in the Eastern Interconnect.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles.
  • Self-driven and able to excel in a high-pressure, fast-evolving trading environment.


Skills:

  • Proven proprietary power trading experience.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Knowledge of programming (Python, VBA, SQL) and data science tools (Tableau, R, Power BI) is a plus.
