HealthFirst Family Care Center, Inc. “The Heart of Our Community” is a growing federally qualified community health center (FQHC) that provides comprehensive services including adult/pediatric medical care, health education, health assessment and screenings, gynecology, behavioral health, substance use treatment, and adult/pediatric dental care.


HealthFirst has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, diverse, analytical thinker for our full-time Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CFO leads, plans, organizes, directs, and controls the financial functions of the health center including general accounting services, patient financial services, and oversight of the Women Infants and Children (WIC) Program. This position includes oversight of all financial statements and analyses, statistical reporting, accounts payable and payroll functions and operating budget; reviews annual Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) budget for HealthFirst and sub-recipient for Federal Grant applications/re-applications; and prepares and presents monthly actual to budget comparative analysis reports for HealthFirst’s Finance Committee.


Required Qualifications:


  1. Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration or Accounting; MBA and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  2. Seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in a non-profit healthcare organization. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting preferred.
  3. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and reporting requirements.
  4. Grant management skills, including sub-recipient monitoring a plus.
  5. Proven experience managing patient financial services (third party billing).
  6. Experience with oversight, preparation, and submission of annual Medicare Cost Report. annual State of Massachusetts Community Health Center Cost Report and annual HRSA UDS Report.            
  7. Working knowledge of automated accounting systems.
  8. Budget preparation and budget management experience.
  9. Knowledgeable of value-based care payment model such as ACO (Accountable Healthcare Organization) and Capitation payments infrastructure.
  10. Good computer skills including Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, financial/accounting software such as Sage, and payroll software such as Paylocity are used often.
  11. Must submit a CORI release form and demonstrate proof of being free from disqualifying information.
  12. Must have a valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle, as some travel may be required.
