Construction Superintendent

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Ground-Up Superintendent to oversee the daily operations of large-scale commercial construction projects from start to finish. This role is responsible for managing all on-site activities, ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence, and coordination of subcontractors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in ground-up construction and a solid understanding of construction processes, industry standards, and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Oversight: Oversee the entire ground-up construction process, from site preparation to project completion, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with plans and specifications.
• On-Site Management: Supervise and coordinate all field operations, including scheduling, material deliveries, and daily oversight of subcontractors and trades.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements on-site. Conduct safety meetings, audits, and enforce the use of PPE and safe construction practices.
• Scheduling: Develop, maintain, and monitor the project schedule in collaboration with the project manager to ensure timely completion. Adjust the schedule as needed to meet deadlines and mitigate delays.
• Quality Control: Maintain a high standard of workmanship that adheres to approved plans and specifications. Conduct quality control checks throughout the construction process.
• Subcontractor Coordination: Manage relationships and coordinate the activities of subcontractors, ensuring they meet project requirements and deadlines. Resolve any issues that arise in the field.
• Budget Management: Monitor and manage project budgets, labor costs, and material expenditures in collaboration with the project management team.
• Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for the project on-site. Regularly communicate with the project manager, owner representatives, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide updates and resolve issues.
• Problem Solving: Identify and address any potential project challenges, conflicts, or issues that could impact safety, schedule, or quality. Provide timely and effective solutions.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, safety records, and other necessary project documentation. Ensure proper documentation of any changes or modifications to the project scope.
• Inspections and Testing: Coordinate inspections with local building authorities and third-party inspectors. Ensure all work passes required inspections and testing.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, but not required. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience as a superintendent, specifically in ground-up commercial construction projects, including office buildings, retail centers, industrial, or mixed-use developments.
• Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of construction methods, safety protocols, scheduling, and subcontractor management. Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and permitting processes.
• Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and project specifications. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project).
• Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification is required. LEED accreditation or other relevant certifications are a plus.
