HSAGP(Hyundai-SK America Green power) Energy LLC. is Hyundai Motor Group and SK on' s joint venture company to produce batteries for EVs. The joint venture plans to invest $5 billion to build an EV battery cell plant in Bartow County, Georgia. Hyundai Motor Group and SK On will each hold a 50 percent stake in the joint venture. The new plant created by the two companies is expected to start manufacturing battery cells in the first half of 2026 with an annual production capacity of 35 GWh, enough to support the production of 300,000 EVs a year. The future Bartow County plant in northwest Georgia is strategically located near Hyundai Motor Group’s existing and planned U.S. facilities. Hyundai Motor Group broke ground last year on the new Hyundai Motor Group Meta plant America in southeast Georgia to make future Hyundai, Genesis and Kia EVs. Summary

Legal Counsel will be responsible for all in-house legal matters, but not not limited to, drafting agreements, addressing compliance issues, and participating in negotiations. Legal Counsel has the responsibility to ensure HSAGP is complying laws, policies, and procedures on all levels, country, state, and local. This role at HSAGP will represent the company in legal and business considerations. As a contribute to HSAGP, this position will review, interpret, and translate all legal requirements relating to the company.


Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide legal support to the various internal departments
  • Work with other in-house counsels and outside counsels
  • Negotiate and draft compliance transactional agreements
  • Taking preemptive measures to avoid legal risks and conflicts
  • Advice and counsel in a variety of legal and compliance topics
  • Provide oversight, direction and maintenance of compliance programs
  • Conduct risk assessments and general reports of compliance meetings
  • Prepare for the possibility of audits and investigation by developing strategies, maintaining records, and designing procedures
  • Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating company contracts and other legal documents
  • Generate accurate work product quickly as requested
  • Review and negotiate new business relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and customers
  • Provide supervision to outside lawyers hired to assist the corporation with their specialized legal services
  • Stay up to date on changes to regulations relevant to the company
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • At least 3+ years of legal experience
  • Law firm or in-house counsel legal department work experience (PREFERRED)
  • Georgia Bar License or ability to promptly obtain GA in-house counsel license
  • Admission to any United States Bar
  • Law degree from an accredited law school or equivalent, relevant experience
  • Experience with and exposure to corporate compliance, labor, & employment issues, and safety & environmental issues
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures
  • Negotiation and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to communicate legal issues in a clear and understandable manner
