Must Haves:

  • 3+ years of experience in honing or precision machining, with a focus on internal diameter (ID) or outer diameter (OD) honing.
  • Proficiency in using precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, bore gauges).
  • Strong understanding of shop mathematics, machining processes, and metal properties.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.


Plusses:

  • Familiarity with SUNNEN equipment is a plus



Day-to-Day:

We are looking for a highly skilled Honing Technician to join our client's manufacturing team. This role involves operating and maintaining honing and precision machining equipment to produce high-quality components with exact specifications. Candidates must have extensive machining experience, an eye for detail, and a strong technical background in mechanics and shop mathematics.


Honing Operations:

  • Set up and operate manual and automated honing machines to achieve precise dimensional tolerances and surface finishes.
  • Perform honing on various materials, including aluminum, steel, titanium, plastics, and other alloys.
  • Select and install appropriate honing tools, abrasives, and fixtures for each job.


Quality Control:

  • Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges to ensure components meet strict tolerances and specifications.
  • Inspect finished parts for quality, accuracy, and surface finish requirements.


Blueprint Interpretation:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD files to determine machining and honing requirements.


Machine Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on honing machines to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.


Collaboration:

  • Work closely with machinists, engineers, and quality control teams to meet production deadlines and resolve any machining challenges.
