Are you a Qualified Engineer with hardware design experience?

Have you designed autonomous solutions for mobile equipment in the mining industry?

We are working with a global, $multimillion client who are technology innovators, custom manufacturers, and electrical systems trouble-shooters for heavy industry. They design, engineer, produce, and service industrial power systems and control systems, specialising in electric rotating machinery for high-demand applications across mining, mills, and heavy industry. Due to growth, they are looking for a Hardware Design Lead for their Evansville team.

This Lead Electrical Engineer role will report to the Autonomous Controls and Hardware Manager and manage a small team of engineers. They will lead and coordinate all hardware related initiatives including but not limited to reviewing/approving electrical and mechanical drawings, conducting electrical and mechanical analysis, specifying new devices and maintaining bill of materials for Autonomous Solutions new and existing products.

Key functions for this Lead Electrical Engineer are:

  • Leading, prioritising and managing all hardware related inquiries for the Autonomous Solutions group.
  • Reviewing and approving electrical and mechanical drawings, removing roadblocks for designers and drafters.
  • Maintaining and updating bill of materials and other relevant technical documentation.
  • Improving existing designs based on data and customer feedback.
  • Leading the execution of various electrical tests and analysis related to power, EMI, and EMC.
  • Leading the execution of various mechanical tests and analysis related to FEA.
  • Creating design standards and procedures for Autonomous Solutions group.
  • Researching, selecting, and developing new pieces of hardware for electrical subsystems.
  • Interfacing with a global team of engineers and product support resources to successfully complete tasks.
  • Planning and coordinating hardware obsolescence Phase In / Phase Out.
  • Driving hardware engineering design reviews.

Essential requirements are:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Experience reviewing and approving electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience utilising tools and software packages to conduct tests on assemblies.
  • Experience with industrial and mobile equipment automation.
  • Experience with hardware such as GPS, Lidar, PLCs, PCs, and low voltage power systems.
