Job Purpose

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for managing and directing the Company’s information technology (IT) applications, operations, infrastructure, and strategic direction. This is a critical role as IT is crucial to drive the Company into the future. The position will foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, ensuring IT initiatives align with business goals and enhance overall company performance. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and interacts daily with all levels of management and internal and external customers. The Director of IT is part of the company leadership team, attends monthly leadership meetings, and shares the responsibility of shepherding our company into the future.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Build, manage, and lead the IT Department by recruiting, training, and mentoring employees, communicating job expectations, and evaluating performance
  • Connect and build relationships across the company outside of the IT Department to foster the collaboration and teamwork needed to achieve objectives
  • Manage company-wide IT infrastructure and technology systems
  • Provide technical and strategic direction to both the infrastructure and internal software application teams
  • Identify areas of opportunity and implement strategic solutions to enable the business to advance forward
  • Ensure security of data, network access, backup systems, and disaster recovery
  • Provide on-call IT support after hours when needed
  • Manage technology budget including a 3-year technology investment roadmap, annual budget, and ensure cost effectiveness
  • Active participant in full life-cycle implementation of IT projects, including ERP replacement, Warehouse Management System, E-Commerce, and Business Intelligence

People Development

  • Consistently encourage and promote employee growth and career advancement
  • Work with team to create development plans for each person’s growth
  • Utilize and support our internal University (Vistage-like) and the training ecosystem
  • Ensure employee evaluations are completed on time and remain current
  • Maintain a supportive and encouraging approach
  • Work to maintain strong retention in all managed positions
  • Support company attendance policy and ensures it is utilized as a development tool
  • Ensure that employee issues are dealt with clearly, directly, and in a timely manner
  • Assist with creating, implementing, and the follow through of performance improvement plans when necessary

Results

  • Maintain technical and compliance reports, records, and documentation
  • Ability to critically think through business challenges and how to leverage technology as both practical and effective solutions
  • Assess systems and abilities to support business operations, identify system improvements and work with operations teams to effect change
  • Develop effective solutions for maintaining and improving IT infrastructure and continual service improvement by providing leadership and guidance to our IT infrastructure and IT Support team
  • Identify opportunities and create efficiencies for continual process improvement by working with our IT Applications team and leveraging existing platforms and new technologies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience working in IT operations or applications, managing technology teams, and overseeing large IT projects
  • Excellent comprehension of network security, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, information services management, or application/system support and information security
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud services and infrastructure resources
  • Experience with ERP implementations
  • Experience or certification in ITIL or similar standards organization
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles and agile methodologies

Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to work cordially, professionally, diplomatically, and with a high level of customer service in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in dealing with sensitive business matters with internal and external customers of all types.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all information related to company finances and records, particularly cost of goods purchased and sold.
  • Ability and willingness to identify processes, tools, and/or procedures that may be improved upon to improve the workplace and outcomes for our customers and employees.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and employees at a high skill level and speak effectively in front of groups. Communication can include, but is not limited to: in-person (verbal and non-verbal), written, e-mail, telephone, and public speaking to medium size groups.
  • Strong focus, planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage changing priorities, handle multiple projects, and do what is necessary to meet deadlines, while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to function independently, as part of a team, and as a leader within your own cohort with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to think and respond quickly, positively, and professionally to constantly changing circumstances.
  • Ability to appropriately manage stress and interact with others.

Working Conditions

This position works on a computer in an office and on the road visiting different locations and vendors. The typical working days for this position are Monday-Friday with the working hours usually falling in a 7 am to 5 pm window with extra hours and weekend work as needed.

  • Position will be based in Hillsboro, OR
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in an office environment
  • Both local and overnight travel may be required
  • Ability to utilize all appropriate safety equipment
