Job Description
The Survey/CAD Technician will be instrumental in producing detailed electrical plans and layouts for diverse construction projects. This role involves close collaboration with Project Foremen and Managers on essential survey tasks, such as generating reference points for key electrical elements, including underground duct banks. Accuracy and precision in preparing our plans are paramount to project success.
What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with project teams to plan and establish reference points using AutoCAD and Trimble Field Point Software.
- Develop CAD drawings in alignment with client requirements and internal quality standards.
- Generate construction reference data for Project Managers from construction plan sets.
- Create points, centerlines, and profiles to support construction references.
- Analyze and process survey data gathered from the field.
- Conduct various field surveys, including staking, topographic, and boundary surveys.
- Maintain both digital and physical survey records, ensuring documentation is accurate and current.
- Work closely with planners, project managers, and engineers on various initiatives.
- Offer guidance and direction to field crews during ongoing projects.
- Additional tasks as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
- Associate degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or CAD Drafting.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with AutoCAD and Trimble Field Point Software.
- Competency in 3D modeling with AutoCAD or Revit.
- Solid understanding of surveying procedures and relevant equipment.
- Skilled in interpreting construction plans and core engineering principles.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
- Strong communication abilities with a balance of independent and team-oriented work skills.
- Keen attention to detail and precision in all work.
- Ability to solve problems and make informed decisions.
What You Will Experience:
- Primarily a field/site role, with work conditions potentially including hot, cold, or otherwise challenging environments typical of construction sites.
- Regular local travel to job sites may be required.
- Physical requirements: repetitive movements of the wrist, hands, and fingers; grasping, pushing, and reaching.
- Must occasionally lift items weighing 15 lbs and, at times, up to 45–65 lbs.
- Office work is also a component, involving prolonged sitting, computer data entry, and telephone communications with clients and team members.
