Software Project Manager

Summary:
- We’re looking for an energetic, passionate, tech-focused, skilled, and hardworking project manager / product owner that will help drive advanced websites and platforms.
- The Project Manager / Product Owner is an integral member of the software development team, helping with all aspects of the project and ultimately driving business results through innovative and successfully executed technology solutions.
Essential Job Functions:
- In partnership with software developers, deploy and constantly improve web-based platforms that make the business successful. Help manage and partner with internal and external resources to deliver fantastic experiences for all users.
- Manage and run Agile functions including Sprint Planning, Standup, Grooming, and Retrospective.
- In partnership with other team members, ensure QA (automated and manual), deployment, and delivery needs are met.
- Communicate with senior management to provide insights, alignment, and project success.
- Build on top of a fun and collaborative team environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and manage sprints, epics, tickets, releases, QA, and software developments plans.
- Manage Atlassian products like Jira, Confluence, and others.
- Create, assign, and collaborate on Jira tickets, working with one of the smartest, fastest, and most passionate team of developers.
- Validate and QA that software solutions meet business requirements.
- Develop and maintain Confluence documents that capture platform essentials, making communication and collaboration cinch.
- Recommend and implement software development process improvements.
- Work with designers, or draft your own wireframes, workflows, or back-of-the-envelope drawings to document and collaborate on improving the technology platforms.
Qualifications:
- Comfort or familiarity with complex products including LIFE INSURANCE, ANNUITIES, or other FINANCIAL SERVICES products.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Experience with Scrum methodology and partnering with a diverse group of developers and business partners.
- Strong technical skills, able to learn new tools and methods.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to dive deep into topics as well as to motivate and excite developers to meet stated business goals.
- Knowledge and experience with some of the technology tools we use (and passion to learn new ones):
➜ Agile: Jira, Confluence, Atlassian Administration
➜ Web: Google Chrome Dev Tools
➜ Workflows: Lucid Chart, Draw.io, Visio, or similar
➜ Wireframing/Sketching: Figma, Balsamiq, Sketch, or similar
➜ Communication: PowerPoint, Excel, Word
- Innovative mindset, with the ability to research, recommend, and implement new solutions to improve results.
Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Experience / familiarity with basic web technology concepts (HTML, CSS, JSON, XML, JavaScript, etc.).
- Ability to analyze data, be detail oriented, and understand basic data models.
- General understanding or familiarity with application frameworks like Angular, Laravel, React, or others.
- Experience with UX design and prototyping.
- Knowledge of or experience with IDE’s like Visual Studio, PHP Storm, or other development tools.
- Experience with JIRA administration including user management, configuring workflows and screens, and permission settings.

- Ability to manage competing demands and priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Ability to think analytically and work efficiently with limited guidance.
- Desire to take ownership of projects and see them through to completion.
- Strong understanding of project management concepts including requirements gathering, communication, and documentation
- Experience managing product backlogs, writing effective user stories and acceptance criteria, and effectively facilitating refinement meetings.
