The Fleet Manager is responsible for the effective deployment of private fleet and carrier resources in the coordination of outbound, inbound, backhaul, and vendor originated shipments. Accountable for the financial performance of the reporting unit.

What your day will look like:
-Hire qualified drivers according to standards set forth by Company Policy as well as Federal, State, and Local Laws. Accountable for Driver Qualification Files, Drug & Alcohol Testing Records, & Driver Safety Performance History Files.
-Regulate scheduling and appointment-setting with stores and backhaul accounts to ensure efficient movement of product. Dispatches fleet in accordance to Hours of Service Rules set forth by FMCSR. Monitors driver’s daily logs according to FMCSR guidelines, maintaining complete accountability for adherence to regulations. Inputs and edits weekly payroll for drivers into the Kronos System. Maintains records and current eligibility status for private fleet drivers in the Driver Safety Award Program.
-Perform carrier selection against daily shipping lists optimizing deployment of carrier and fleet resources. Tenders loads not covered by the private fleet with outside contract carriers. Maintains working relationship with truck leasing companies to ensure equipment quality; retrieves monthly reports to monitor fleet efficiency.
-Track on-time delivery percentages to stores for both the private fleet and contract carriers. Maintains carrier accountability for on-time delivery standards exceeding 98%. Works with ocean, rail, and drayage contacts to coordinate the timely movement of intermodal containers into the DC as well as empty container returns.
-Accountable for departmental financial performance according to defined budgetary objectives. Edits and approves private fleet invoices, maintaining records of such accordingly. Accountable for departmental performance standards according to defined KPI objectives.
-Engage subordinates to pursue excellence and embrace the spirit of continuous improvement.
Requirements
-A minimum of five years transportation/fleet management experience.
-A complete working knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
-Bachelors degree in Business, Logistics, or related field; or equivalent experience (in addition to the minimum requirement for experience).
-Profficiency w/ Microsoft Word and Excel.
-Knowledge of AS400/Lotus Notes
