The Collaborative is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to providing North Carolinians with access to financial education and asset-building tools. We focus on communities of color and people living with disabilities and work to unite financial institutions, nonprofits, and local government agencies across the state to promote financial inclusion. We are based in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area and offer some flexibility for remote work.

Role Description

We are looking for a full-time AmeriCorps Vista to join our team. This is a hybrid role, with locations in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, Wilmington, and Greensboro-Winston Salem, with some flexibility for remote work. The AmeriCorps Vista will join a cohort of others to build systems statewide that address issues facing low-income families through employment, microenterprise, and financial education. VISTAs may also be involved with developing and implementing financial education and asset-building programs, conducting outreach and engagement activities, and providing technical assistance to partners.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

In addition to the above qualifications, experience working with diverse populations and communities of color is beneficial.

To serve in AmeriCorps State and National or AmeriCorps NCCC, you must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or legal permanent resident alien of the United States. To serve in AmeriCorps VISTA, you must have one of the following citizenship statuses: U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, Lawful Permanent Resident Aliens, or persons legally residing in a state that have the following legal residency classifications: refugee, asylum or asylee, temporary protected status or deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) status. By law, only AmeriCorps VISTA members who are either U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, or Lawful Permanent Resident Aliens—sometimes referred to as “Lawful Permanent Residents”—are eligible to receive an AmeriCorps Segal Education Award. All other members will receive an end of service cash stipend.

Additionally, *Citizens of the US include persons born in Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands. Nationals of the US include persons born in American Samoa, including Swains Island.

**Generally, you are a Lawful Permanent Resident Alien of the US if you are a US permanent resident with (i) a Permanent Resident Card, INS Form I-551; (ii) an Alien Registration Receipt Card, INS Form I-551, (iii) a passport indicating that the INS has approved it as temporary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence; or (iv) a Departure Record (INS Form I-94) indicating that the INS has approved it as temporary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence. NOTE: A student visa does not confer eligibility to enroll in an AmeriCorps program.
