Role Description

You will be joining our dynamic team as our first General Counsel hire, responsible for providing strategic legal support across the full spectrum of corporate matters. Reporting into the Auri Nutrition Founder, you will serve as a partner across the business and the primary point of contact for all legal matters, while also managing external counsel partners as necessary. The ideal candidate will be a generalist with an expertise in laws and regulations related to business operations and CPG companies.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as in-house counsel to a growing business, partnering with all areas of the business including Finance, Operations, Marketing, Digital Product and Product Development to advise on legal risk and business strategies 
  • Act as primary point of contact for all legal matters, managing relationships with outside counsel
  • Develop and implement business contracts across the business, including operations, company policies, and employee and vendor contracts
  • Work with our product development team in spotting and solving legal issues as they arise, serving as a thought partner and aligning legal compliance across the business
  • Partner with the digital product team to provide legal expertise and support in navigating all design legal considerations
  • Monitor state and federal laws as well as regulatory trends impacting our industry, and strategically manage risk 
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and track complex business agreements including IP contracts to ensure both business and legal objectives are met
  • Lead the business through matters related to claims substantiated and product safety, including strategies to minimize and mitigate risk
  • Develop and/or contribute to legal response strategy as needed


Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school
  • 1-3 years relevant legal experience with a generalist focus in business operations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of state, federal, & global privacy laws, including CCPA and GDPR
  • Ability to prepare legal documents, reports, correspondence and other communications on complex legal issues
  • Experience in corporate law including drafting contracts and managing compliance processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Passion for health, wellness, and sustainable practices.
