Dagen Personnel is recruiting a GIS Analyst IV for an oil & gas company in The Woodlands.


This is a long-term contract position with a hybrid schedule (Tuesday – Thursday in the office).


Team Responsibilities Include:

• Serve as subject matter expert for geospatial data within IT Geo Tech & Data (GTD) team.

• Create innovative solutions to improve processes, workflow, best practices, and service delivery.

• Definition, implementation, and maintenance of policies, standards (application, acquisition, and delivery), procedures, and guidelines relating to survey data. Promoting naming conventions, industry-standard acronyms, codes, units of measure & symbols.

• Coordinate activities with survey companies and monitor progress to ensure survey results are delivered on time and within budget.

• Coordinates the transfer of survey data to the GTD team for interface into SDE.

• Create and maintain ETL to integrate spatial and non-spatial data from various sources, including the company’s SoRs.

• Ensures accurate and timely communication of daily operational and project-related updates to stakeholders.

• Reviews survey data for completeness and accuracy and provides clarification and/or interpretation for resolution to any questions or discrepancies found.

• Recognizing and fixing errors & inconsistencies in geospatial data and fundamental workflows while managing implications of moving data and maps to avoid data connection issues in managing geospatial data.

• Know how and when to apply datum transformations, recognize, troubleshoot, and repair coordinate reference issues in existing datasets, and determine which projection was likely used for a historical dataset.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree Geomatics, Geospatial Science, Geography, or equivalent discipline.

• Minimum five (5) years of experience working in upstream oil & gas industry.

• Minimum five (5) years of experience maintaining data within SDE databases.

• Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Portal, Geospatial Analysis, and Geoprocessing Tools.

• Proficiency in Geographic Calculator, Global Mapper, and FME Desktop.

• Functional knowledge of Land Surveying methods and field survey operations.

• Proficiency in Horizontal Reference Systems, Vertical Reference Systems, and Geoids models.

• Proficiency in Imagery Processing, Digital Elevation Models, LiDAR data, and UAS data.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to understand customer requests which are frequently in non-technical terms.

• Geographic Information System certification.

• Functional knowledge of upstream oil & gas business objectives, jargon, and data concepts.

• Basic knowledge of SQL Server databases and SQL queries.

• ArcGIS Model Builder and/or FME experience.

• Basic knowledge of Python scripting.
