Role Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to join
our growing team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical
engineering, proven expertise in solar project design and construction, and proficiency in CAD
software. As the Director of Engineering, you will oversee the design and development of solar
and battery energy storage projects, ensuring the highest standards of performance, safety, and
efficiency. You will be responsible for leading engineering efforts, standardizing processes,
optimizing costs, and enhancing project value through innovative engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Value Design & Engineering:
o Utilize CAD software to create and modify preliminary designs and detailed
engineering drawings for solar and battery energy storage projects.
o Perform technical analysis to optimize project designs for maximum energy
output and space efficiency.
o Collaborate with external engineering vendors to develop comprehensive plan
sets optimized for civil and structural disciplines.
o Ensure compliance with regional regulations, permits, codes, ordinances, and
environmental constraints.
2. Performance Engineering:
o Develop, review, and optimize energy production models using industry-standard
modeling software.
o Oversee and approve performance modeling conducted by third-party engineers
for projects under construction.
3. Electrical Engineering:
o Design AC and DC electrical single-line diagrams for utility-scale photovoltaic
(PV) systems.
o Ensure all designs comply with electrical codes, manufacturer guidelines, and
utility interconnection standards.
4. Construction Support:
o Develop and maintain company-standard design specifications in partnership with
the construction team.
o Work closely with the construction team to optimize project designs for
constructability and prepare bid-level submissions.
o Support the procurement of project-specific equipment, including managing long-
lead items.
o Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to quality, safety standards, and
provide commissioning support.
5. General Leadership & Management:
o Oversee external engineering resources during pre-construction and construction
phases, ensuring project goals and deadlines are met.
o Develop detailed Basis of Design (BoD) documents and establish Design
Standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
o Manage the entire project design lifecycle, from conceptual development through
to construction completion.
o Coordinate with internal teams to align project designs with organizational goals
and timelines.
o Foster effective communication and collaboration across multiple departments.
o Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes.
o Lead and mentor a team of electrical drafters, fostering professional growth and
development.
o Support the VP of Engineering and Procurement with various engineering-related
tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
A minimum of 7 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, with a focus on
solar project design and construction.
Proven expertise in utility-scale solar PV project design and development.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in production analysis tools.
Demonstrated project management experience, with a track record of successful solar
project delivery.
Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices, including NEC &
NESC.
Experience managing external engineering resources and coordinating with
multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, maintaining high standards of quality
and efficiency.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, Smartsheet, and MS Office Suite applications.
Self-motivated, with the ability to handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively.

practices in project design.
