We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Formulation Specialist to join our dynamic team in North Salt Lake City. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and optimizing formulations for powders, tablets, and capsules. This role is integral to the product development process, ensuring that new and existing products meet quality, safety, and efficacy standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring innovative health and wellness products to market.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Formulation Development:
  • Design and develop formulations for powders, tablets, and capsules.
  • Optimize formulations for stability, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Ensure formulations comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.


  • Process Development & Optimization:
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop scalable production processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve formulation and process challenges during pilot and full-scale production.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance product performance and efficiency.


  • Testing & Analysis:
  • Conduct pre-formulation studies and ingredient compatibility testing.
  • Perform physical and chemical tests on raw materials and final products.
  • Analyze product stability under various conditions and recommend adjustments as needed.


  • Documentation & Compliance:
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of formulation experiments and process development.
  • Prepare technical documents, such as batch records, formulation reports, and SOPs.
  • Ensure all formulations meet Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulatory guidelines.


  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with R&D, quality control, regulatory affairs, and production teams.
  • Communicate project progress and challenges to management and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support during product scale-up and commercial manufacturing.



Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.


  • Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in formulation development, with a focus on powders, tablets, and capsules.
  • Proven experience in scaling up formulations from lab to production.


  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of excipients, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and processing equipment.
  • Experience with tablet compression, capsule filling, granulation, and powder blending techniques.
  • Familiarity with GMP, FDA, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, UV-Vis spectroscopy) is a plus.


  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
