Job Title: Aircraft Inspector III

Location: Hagerstown, MD

Contract Type: 12-month contract-to-hire

Pay Rate: $40 to $45 per hour


Job Summary:

As an Aircraft Inspector III, you will utilize your skills and expertise to inspect aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment, and parts to ensure airworthiness and conformance to the manufacturer's specifications and government regulations. You will be responsible for identifying any breach of standards for airworthiness. Your inspection authority will include all in-process inspections, final inspection of minor work (non-337 form), and approval for return to service of minor work (non-337 form).


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect aircraft, systems, and parts for airworthiness and compliance with manufacturer specifications and government regulations.
  • Identify and document any breaches of standards for airworthiness.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and final inspections of minor work.
  • Approve minor work for return to service.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures.

Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps.
  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motions, including finger and hand dexterity.
  • Vision abilities required include close, distance, depth perception, and color differentiation.
  • Hearing abilities required include discerning different tones and volumes.
  • Occasionally lift or carry up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.).
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials.
  • Frequently exposed to loud noises.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position, responsible for the safety or security of people or property.

Work Schedule:

  • 5 ten-hour shifts


Skills and Qualifications:

Must-haves:

  • Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment, and parts.
  • Understanding and experience with the practical application of product audit and inspection processes and procedures.
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).

Preferred:

  • Basic understanding of 14 CFR Chapter 1.
  • Understanding of civil or government aviation inspection operations and/or FAA Repair Station operations.
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) designation.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 5 or more years of relevant experience.
  • A higher-level degree may substitute for experience.
  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
