We seek a skilled and compassionate Dentist to join our healthcare team with the New York State Department of Corrections. As a Dentist in our correctional setting, you will be crucial in providing essential dental care to incarcerated individuals, focusing primarily on cleanings and extractions. **Responsibilities:**

- Perform routine dental examinations and screenings.

- Administer and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays).

- Provide comprehensive dental treatments, with a focus on cleanings and extractions.

- Manage dental emergencies and provide urgent dental care as needed.

- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive care.

- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.

- Collaborate with healthcare professionals within the correctional facility to coordinate patient care.

- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe clinical environment.


**Qualifications:**

- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.

- Current and valid state dental license in the State of New York.

- Proven experience in performing dental cleanings and extractions.

- Knowledge of dental instruments and equipment.

- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

- Compassionate and non-judgmental approach to patient care.


**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Experience working in a correctional facility or similar healthcare setting.

- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
