Software Test Engineer

In particular, the Reality Labs Research Audio team is focused on two goals; creating virtual sounds that are perceptually indistinguishable from reality, and redefining human hearing. These two initiatives will allow us to connect people by allowing them to feel together despite being physically apart, and allow them to converse in even the most difficult listening environments.


We are looking for a contract software test engineer to develop and support our data collection systems that help us progress on our goals.


Responsibilities:

- Develop tools, platforms, infrastructure and documentation that enable more efficient and effective data collection and research.

- Perform software/integration/system testing.

- Perform deployments of software upgrades.

- Provision and integrate new machines and recording equipment.

- Identify and troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support during data recordings.

- Monitor system health and build alerting systems.

- Automate and streamline operations and processes.

- Collaborate in a team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines.


Minimum Qualifications:

- BS degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

- 5+ years of professional programming experience.

- Demonstrated proficiency in Python.

- Comfortable being the sole representative for quality assurance within the team.

- Experience with automated testing frameworks (Pytest and Behave preferred).

- Experience with RESTful systems (FastAPI preferred).

- Experience with networking.

- Experience with shell scripting in Linux and Windows.


Preferred Experience:

- JavaScript and React, or similar frontend frameworks.

- Working with multi-sensor environments and multimedia.

- Infrastructure-as-code tools.

- Working within interdisciplinary teams.
