Lead Software Engineer - Risk

The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for leading the development and implementation of risk management systems, risk analytics platforms, and risk data infrastructure for the organization's trading and investment activities. This individual oversees a team of software engineers and works closely with the Chief Risk Officer, risk analysts, traders, and other stakeholders to ensure effective risk technology solutions and robust data pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of risk management systems, including real-time monitoring, reporting, calculation engines, analytics platforms, data warehouses, and data pipelines, ensuring scalability, performance, and resilience through effective software engineering practices.
- Develop and maintain a robust risk data infrastructure, implementing data governance frameworks, quality checks, and lineage tracking to collect, process, store, and ensure the integrity and traceability of risk-related data from various sources.
- Oversee the development of risk analytics tools, calculation libraries, and reporting frameworks, working closely with risk analysts and researchers to translate risk models and methodologies into efficient and scalable software implementations, ensuring integration with risk management systems and data pipelines.
- Develop and implement a technology strategy for risk management systems, aligning with organizational objectives, and incorporating emerging technologies such as cloud computing, big data platforms, and machine learning to enhance risk management capabilities, while fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration within the risk engineering team.
- Build and lead a highly skilled team of software engineers, data engineers, and risk technology professionals, collaborating closely with risk analysts, quantitative researchers, traders, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical solutions, while partnering with technology teams to ensure seamless integration of risk systems with trading platforms and data sources.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of professional experience working with Python and C++ in a production environment.
- Over a year of experience leading a team of Software Engineers.
- Experience working with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
- Experience with asynchronous programming in Python.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
