Our client is looking for a Commercial Steel Estimator. This is a fantastic company with room to grow.


Job Duties:

  • Review and analyze blueprints, project specifications, and other documentation presented by the client, to accurately prepare and estimate projects.
  • Prepare detail oriented and accurate estimates on new projects and estimate prices for any change orders on existing contracts, meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Prepare take-off of steel materials, estimate all necessary labor, estimate materials, buyout items, etc. to prepare a thorough bid estimate.
  • Collaborate with project team members on building to specifications in fabrication.
  • Appraise and communicate to management team any potential risks and/or conditions not fully captured in estimate that may impact costs of the project.
  • Be comfortable to discuss alternative recommendations on projects in which management requires alternative estimates to meet client needs.
  • Interact with other key team members in a professional manner.
  • Review bid invitations to decide which projects to add to bid schedule.
  • Assist Accounts Receivable on Schedule of Value (SOV) breakouts.
  • Must handle bid follow ups.
  • Write up new jobs.
  • Must coordinate with Detailers, Engineers, and Joist and Deck suppliers to make sure schedules meet with the client’s needs.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu, EJE, Excel & Outlook
  • Attend budget meetings with clients.
  • Assist in quoting Value Engineering Budgets.
  • Review scope work in contracts.
  • Assist in filling out prequalification forms for contractors.
  • Must be willing to train other employees interested in learning Estimating.
  • Detailing experience would be a plus.
