Summary:

We are currently looking for a Full Stack Developer independent contractor who has experience with developing front-end and backend code for the BrightSpot CMS. Candidates with only front- or back-end experience are encouraged to apply.

Spark451 is a higher-education enrollment strategy, marketing and technology firm that achieves measurable results. We integrate a multitude of communication channels and digital platforms for effective recruitment, advertising, and media. Element451, our admissions marketing technology and CRM platform, empowers the personalization and automation of admissions communications and processes.


Essential Tasks:

● Develop front end code using HTML, Handlebars, CSS/LESS, JavaScript etc.

● Develop back-end code for Brightspot CMS using Content Types, Views, View Models and APIs

● Work with JSON to control Brightspot views, configurations and publishing functions

● Develop high degree of code coverage, unit testing, functional testing with testing frameworks

● Participate and collaborate in daily scrum meeting and keep accurate estimates of tasks and efforts in the collaboration tools

● Collaborate with a team of developers and architects, UX / UI visual designers to create websites using Brightspot CMS

● Developing reusable components, scalable JavaScript code, and front-end libraries

● Create functional website CMS code that is based on wireframes, designs, and requirements understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and approaches

● Optimize components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers

● Develop extensible and scalable applications on the Brightspot CMS platform

● Maintain high level of documentation and consistently produce clean code


Preferred Skills and Experience:

● Experience with developing backend Java code for AEM or other Java based CMS such as OpenCMS or BrightSpot, both with administration and backend development

● 5+ years of software front end development experience

● 3+ years of software experienced focused on CMS solutions

● 3+ years of experience in JavaScript frameworks: Angular, jQuery, Backbone, etc.

● 2+ years of experience with responsive web design

● 3+ years of experience with Java languages

● Ability to take design compositions and produce clean JavaScript, HTML and CSS

● Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

● Excellent understanding of Microsoft products (Word and PowerPoint)

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills

● Must be organized and detail oriented

● Proven ability to maintain a high standard of confidentiality and autonomy

● This person will show strong attention to detail skills as well as ability to work collaboratively and independently. Proven self-motivation to take initiative and master new tasks quickly.
