Balazs Nanoanalysis is a contract analytical laboratory owned by Air Liquide Electronics is world-wide leader in supplying gases, specialty chemicals and services to a wide variety of industries. Balazs Nanoanalysis operates analytical labs around the world serving both internal and external clients. How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?


Seeking a Chemist II specializing in trace and ultratrace elemental analysis techniques using ICP-MS. The candidates must have prior experience with metal analysis and acid handling, and wish to pursue a career in analytical chemistry with a focus within the semiconductor industry.


Job Responsibilities

  • Preparation and analysis of routine and non-routine ICP-MS and HR-ICP-MS samples, including but not limited to VPD and DSE.
  • Assist with method development for ICP-MS and HR-ICP-MS analyses.
  • Responsible for accurate evaluation, interpretation, and verification of ICP-MS and HR-ICP-MS analyses.
  • Preparation, QC and reporting of analysis results.
  • Perform general maintenance on assigned instruments to ensure they remain operational and minimize downtime.
  • Follow all SOPs and lab safety and quality requirements.
  • Ensure that all activities within the lab are conducted in a safe manner and within company policies including local and federal regulations.
  • Remain current on all training and foster a safe working environment.
  • Understand and follow safe handling procedures for hazardous chemicals.
  • Work collaboratively with team members on analyses as required.
  • Communicate internally and externally with customers, the sales team, etc, to make analytical recommendations and discuss data and results.
  • Updates the laboratory manager and supervisor on activities in the lab.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts within the lab on improved methods and method development.
  • Procures laboratory equipment and reagents.
  • Trend data and investigate data trends.
  • Complies with the established Quality System and reports quality deficiencies.
  • Perform sampling at client’s facility as assigned and complete all other additional assignments as required.
  • Provide technical expertise and technical training for chemists, laboratory technicians.
  • Maintains 6S in the laboratory.
  • Must be able to provide support to other laboratory areas as needed.
  • Active participation in all internal and external audits.
  • Must have initiative, be self-motivated, and be able to work under time pressure and change plans on short notice.
  • Excellent English communication skills (both written and spoken) and a strong passion for customer service.

Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Chemistry or equivalent education with 3-5 years of laboratory experience in industry, or MS degree in Chemistry or equivalent education with 2 years of laboratory experience in industry.
  • Extensive experience with ICP-MS.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with good communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Work safely at all times and ensure a safety culture and a safe working environment in the laboratory.
  • Administer safe laboratory practices, and keep all related safety trainings up to date.
  • Good problem solving skills, innovative and resourceful.
  • Proficient in computer skills such as LIMS, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc.
  • Must be able to lift heavy loads (+50 lbs) with the assistance of others.


The Salary rate range for this position in California is $90,000.00 to $100,000.00
