Brake Technician

Position: Test Lab Technician (4 - 6 Month Contract with Possibility of Extension)
Reports To: Lab Manager
General Responsibilities:
The Test technician is primarily responsible for preparing and executing tests according test engineer requests provide test data, results and reports on time. Support in data analysis, investigation and reporting. The Test Technician will participate in failure analysis with the engineering team.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare and execute brake tests.
Support on brake samples preparation and characterization (Fingerprint).
Support equipment’s calibration with outsourced supplier.
Support on development of new test benches and test fixture.
CV, DV, and PV Performance and Endurance/Durability Testing of Braking Components.
Make routine measurements, observes and records instrument readings and support other technicians.
Support on vehicle instrumentation (installation and data acquisition)
Monitor test bench, troubleshoot testing/equipment issues and provide solution.
Perform work based primarily on established practices and variable sequence testing that may not be standardized and uses a variety of specifications and reference guides in selecting and adapting procedures.
Adapt to execute engineering requests with supervision and mentoring
Develop a background of knowledge and understanding of engineering practice based on ongoing substantial, training and acquired experience.
The test procedures require some experimental skill and judgment to achieve accurate and reproducible data.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of automotive braking systems preferred
Strong mechanical background
Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, ..)
Report writing / data presentation experience
Flexible to changing work schedules and adjust to changes in daily assigned responsibilities
Able to adjust to a fast-paced environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Software: Prolink, Labview, Siemens Test Lab Software, Visual Basic.
Data acquisition system and sensors experiences: Pressure transducers, Load cell, LVDTs, thermocouples, accelerometers, strain gauge.
Additionally, the ability to work in both a team environment and independently with minimal direction is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. This position will be expected to perform miscellaneous department functions as requested.
Education: Posses at least a High School diploma or equivalent degree (2-year technical Associates Degree is preferred).
Experience: 3+ years of Brake test laboratory experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Working conditions:
Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Have ability to work 40 – 60 hours per week.
Travel: This position requires up to 10% travel. Domestic may be required as needed.
