The Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra seeks an outgoing and dynamic individual to lead our development program and oversee all aspects of successful fundraising and community engagement. Responsible for managing the fundraising, development, and community engagement programs of the orchestra. The Development Director works collaboratively with the Executive Director to cultivate and obtain community support from businesses and individuals through sponsorships, donation campaigns, major gift calls, planned giving, fundraising events, and public engagement. Candidates should have three or more years of nonprofit development experience and ideally be an enthusiastic supporter of music and the arts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a plan for fundraising growth
  • Cultivate and obtain support from businesses and individuals
  • Plan and prepare fundraising appeals
  • Solicit major gifts and planned giving
  • Actively manage donor relations
  • Manage fundraising events
  • Serve as a public representative
  • Work collaboratively with CUSO team


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three or more years development experience
  • Excellent writing and public speaking skills
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Fluency in MS Office Sute (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with donor database software
