Automation Control Engineer

We are looking for an Automation Controls Engineer to join our team. Great compensation, benefits, culture, and interesting projects.


Overview:


• Support production by conducting preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on automated assembly work cells, including enhancements to programming.

• Manage electrical and mechanical equipment and systems.

• Ensure all equipment operates safely, adhering to OSHA guidelines and manufacturer standards.

• Perform calibration for all plant automation systems post-installation.

• Provide technical support and training to operational and maintenance teams on automation systems.

• Act as the technical expert for automation-related operational issues.

• Operate under the general supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, following established repair and installation guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:


• Assist in identifying suppliers and resources for automation and manufacturing equipment.

• Develop and maintain standards for equipment design, components, controls, signals, and documentation.

• Collaborate with Development Engineering to identify equipment solutions for quoting opportunities.

• Obtain pricing for equipment and implementation as needed for quotes.

• Create Scope of Work documentation for new equipment projects.

• Design systems using PLC programming, robotics, and sensor technologies.

• Coordinate plant and engineering resources to manage equipment projects through commissioning.

• Ensure proper commissioning, startup, and approval of new automation equipment.

• Maintain documentation and training for new automation equipment.

• Provide ongoing technical support and training to operational and maintenance teams.

• Serve as the technical authority on automation-related operational challenges.


Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:


• Proficient in servicing products and using testing/calibration equipment.

• Familiar with FANUC, Mitsubishi Industrial MELFA Robots, and integrated Keyence vision systems.

• Experience in training and mentoring junior maintenance technicians and operations team members.

• Involved in continuous improvement and lean initiatives.


Education and Experience:


• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year institution, or two to four years of related experience/training, or a combination of education and experience.
