GIS Data Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Data Analyst to support the creation, maintenance, and quality assurance of critical geospatial infrastructure data for enterprise-level Engineering initiatives. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of GIS data used across the organization — including compliance-related programs and operational analytics.The ideal candidate is a hands-on GIS professional with strong analytical skills, advanced geospatial editing experience, and the ability to interpret field data into accurate digital representations. PTC (Positive Train Control) and rail experience are preferred but not required.Key ResponsibilitiesCreate, modify, and quality-check geospatial infrastructure data for engineering and business operationsUtilize GIS tools to ensure accurate topology and track geometry representationConvert field-collected spatial data into a validated digital rail network aligned with organizational standardsReview, approve, and promote data change sets submitted by GIS/CAD techniciansConduct regular inventory analysis including track mileage, asset counts, and spatial measurementsCollaborate with engineering sub-groups and business partners to support enterprise GIS initiativesContribute to the preparation, assembly, and deployment of geospatial data to support compliance programs and corporate systemsSupport continuous improvement by recommending cost-saving initiatives leveraging GIS technologiesAssist senior GIS staff in additional GIS responsibilities as neededRequired Skills & QualificationsAdvanced proficiency with GIS software, ideally ESRI tools (ArcGIS Pro, Desktop, geodatabase editing, topology management)Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data quality assurance capabilitiesAbility to interpret engineering drawings, field data, and spatial reference materialsFamiliarity working with infrastructure or utility network datasetsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsBachelor’s degree required — GIS, Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Geography, or relatedPreferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)Exposure to railroad infrastructure or linear transportation networksExperience supporting Positive Train Control (PTC) data models or compliance initiativesWorking knowledge of CAD-to-GIS workflowsExperience with Enterprise GIS deployments in large-scale organizationsSoft SkillsDetail-oriented data stewardship mindsetAbility to make informed decisions and manage competing prioritiesStrong teamwork and communication in a technical environment
