Medical Malpractice Paralegal

Our client's firm offers the expertise of its 110+ attorneys, who bring decades of experience and problem-solving skills to the table. We are now looking to add a dedicated paralegal to assist and support our Medical Malpractice Department in Lake Success.


The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Administrative Assistant.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and draft motions, pleadings, judgments, statements, documents, and other correspondence.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and attorneys, conducting client interviews as needed.
  • Prepare trial notebooks and provide assistance in trial settings (as needed, in person).
  • Prepare and review discovery packages, including disclosure statements, answers to interrogatories, and production requests.
  • Maintain detailed calendars in Outlook, scheduling and coordinating external meetings as necessary.
  • Serve pleadings and discovery documents, assist in preparing various litigation documents.
  • Plan and schedule appointments and events.
  • Answer inbound telephone calls.
  • Implement and maintain organized filing systems within the company's files.
  • Perform all other office tasks as necessary.
  • File court documents, including e-filing, for both state and federal courts.
  • Track court dates and deadlines.
  • Review bank statements and financial records.
  • Maintain organization and manage a high case volume.
  • Request conflict checks, open new client matters, and submit electronic approvals as needed.
  • Be familiar with MS Office (including Excel), Westlaw, and ProLaw.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and maintain a polished presentation.
  • Handle other ad hoc projects as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:

  • At least 5 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of network statements.
  • Previous experience in office administration and other related fields.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Excellent client service and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive and anticipatory.
  • Solid knowledge of computer software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to think clearly and work well under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of staff within the office.
