We currently have a Junior-level Environmental Scientist opening in our Pittsburgh, PA office. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work with senior environmental staff to complete projects and conduct ecological and natural resource field surveys (e.g. wetlands; waterways; soils; vegetation; rare, threatened & endangered species) and prepare agency reports and consultation letters. Key Responsibilities:

  • Completion of field investigations and resource agency report preparation to support our growing midstream pipeline, facilities, and electric transmission permitting practice.
  • Work within an integrated planning, engineering, construction management, and facilities operating technical team to provide environmental compliance services to Oil & Gas clients.

Capabilities and Credentials:

  • 1-5 years of relevant experience working directly with wetland delineations and permitting.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Biological, or related sciences is required.
  • Experience with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wetlands delineation manual and regional supplements.
  • Must have experience writing and reviewing technical papers and reports.
  • Experience with federal and state permitting of impacts to streams and wetlands, and have a working knowledge of the regulatory framework including U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and other federal, state, and local agencies.
  • A working knowledge of preparing documents related to environmental services in accordance with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge and use of GPS equipment and GIS software are a plus.
  • Ability to retain information, details, and procedures for use on future projects.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are required.
  • Have the ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Must be able to work under and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel intermittently, including overnight hotel stays.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Punctual, dependable, detail-oriented, and thorough.
  • Demonstrate good character traits and rapport with colleagues.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver’s license.
