One of our top clients is searching for a Manager of Laboratory Services near Bellefonte, PA


Position Summary:


The Manager of Laboratory Services is tasked with overseeing daily operations within the unit/department to guarantee the provision of top-tier, secure patient care. This pivotal role encompasses guiding and nurturing staff, collaborating with diverse professionals, and nurturing a culture of excellence in service delivery. Additionally, the Manager collaborates with the Director in long-term strategic planning, setting and enforcing practice standards, and upholding authority, accountability, and responsibility for staff under their purview. You will be responsible for departmental collaboration and leading a large team.


Type: Permanent position

Onsite: 5 days/week


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct financial management by analyzing, monitoring, and elucidating budgets and variances, while optimizing care efficiency and throughput.
  • Manage human resources by assessing staffing needs, employing recruitment strategies for staff selection, and ensuring comprehensive orientation.
  • Lead initiatives for performance improvement using lean tools and methodologies, such as MDI (Manage for Daily Improvement), while overseeing patient safety and promoting workplace safety.
  • Apply systems thinking to foundational skills, leveraging technology for decision support and improvement activities, and facilitating change management processes.
  • Maintain current clinical practice knowledge relevant to the scope of responsibility and advocate for evidence-based practices.
  • Cultivate open, respectful, and impactful communication, both orally and in writing.
  • Manage relationships and influence behaviors, including conflict resolution, fostering team dynamics, providing mentorship and coaching, and serving as a change agent.


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of laboratory experience
  • Management experience required (30+ Direct reports)
  • Preferred: 5+ years of leadership experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent preferred.

Certifications:

  • Must hold certification as MT (ASCP), MT (AMT), or possess an equivalent certification.
