Summary:



The Senior Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for leading projects from start to finish, to include the design, execution and analysis of multiple investigational experiments.


Responsibilities:


  • Autonomously lead and manage projects from start to finish including assay design, feasibility, development, validation, and transfer
  • Design and implement experimental studies. Analyze and summarize the data and provide complete documentation, statistical interpretation, and communication of results.
  • Perform biomaterial synthesis and/or bioconjugation
  • Develop and run in vitro cell-based assays, analyze and summarize the data and provide complete documentation
  • Identify, implement, and optimize novel tissue culture technologies and techniques; Expertise growing engineered cell lines
  • Design and manage in vivo animal models
  • Perform tissue processing and histology procedures, including grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining
  • Design, execution and process optimization of bioconjugation and/or biomaterial synthesis
  • Design, develop and optimize immunoassays (ELISA, WB, IF)
  • Perform routine analytical measurements using HPLC and UV-vis, fluorescence microscopy instrumentation
  • Perform Rheology testing and evaluation
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Research




Qualifications:


  • A PhD in biomedical engineering, biology, or a related biotechnology field, post doctoral experience in med-tech, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or academic settings a plus; OR a Master’s Degree in a similar field with a commensurate amount of additional experience
  • Experience with autonomously leading a project from start to finish
  • Strong DOE experience with demonstrated ability to make decisions based on statistical interpretation of data: experiment design, data analysis, process modeling, and simulation/process confirmation.
  • Must have direct experience performing mammalian cell culture techniques and cell-based assays.
  • Experience in biomaterial synthesis and/or bioconjugation
