Full job description

The main responsibilities include ensuring that electrical installations at the UPF meet quality standards, adhere to design specifications, and comply with nuclear codes and standards (such as NFPA 70-2014). The role requires staying on schedule, keeping within budget, and possessing a solid understanding of construction engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Department of Energy personnel and interface with CNS Y12 Plant Operations.
  • Support subcontractors by coordinating with the Subcontractor Technical Representatives (STRs).
  • Evaluate design documents for constructability and conduct material takeoffs.
  • Utilize tools such as SetRoute, BPS, TeamWorks, etc., for project management.
  • Manage the preparation of quantity listings for field-purchased materials and equipment, initiate requisitions, and conduct receipt inspections as necessary.
  • Develop work packages and aid in designing temporary construction facilities using field sketches, ensuring the preparation of "as-built" drawings and other job plans.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist in scheduling work activities, interpreting design drawings/documents, and monitoring the installation of equipment, as well as the planning and delivery of construction materials and equipment.
  • Ensure adequate warehousing and storage conditions to protect the environment.
  • Provide input on specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to support on-site activities.
  • Coordinate with site management on activities that affect contract administration.
  • Assist in the preparation of construction estimates, costs, schedules, and budgets.
  • Verify that bids from vendors for materials and/or equipment meet specification requirements.
  • Facilitate the integration of the construction automation plan with the Project Controls program at the job site, and review project controls documents related to cost and schedule progress.

Must be a US Citizen.

Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education.

Must be able to obtain a site security badge for access to the worksite.

Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience of DOE, DOD and/or commercial nuclear construction projects is required.

Candidates should be self-starters, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and be able to work well in a team environment.

The candidate should have a good working knowledge of current design codes and standards such as NFPA 70-2014, NQA-1 requirements.

Knowledge of environmental compliance standards required on NNSA/DOE projects.

Familiarity with nuclear quality and commercial practice standards is desired.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent commercial nuclear experience at an EPC Project.

Recent experience as an Electrical Field Engineer or Area Lead Electrical Field Engineer.

Experience in reviewing field drawings/plans of different disciplines and may include P&ID’s.

Developing construction work packages.

Familiar with Power BI Database.

Utilize Project Wise for viewing scoped systems.

Familiar with Quantity Unit Rate Report, Code of Accounts and descriptions.

Pay: $35.00 - $90.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
