Position Summary:
IDD Aerospace is looking to fill a Buyer I in Supply Chain Department. IDD Aerospace designs and manufactures production used on the flight deck of aircraft and this team member will be responsible for buying a select range of items & services necessary to support company requirements in an efficient, cost effective manner, while maintaining quality standards at all times. You will be responsible for releasing PO's on-time, and manage PO exceptions messages while maintaining appropriate inventory levels in accordance with inventory targets. In this role, you will submit RFQ’s with multiple suppliers and set-up direct suppliers in IDD’s ERP system as needed. This position works under close supervision.
Job Description:
- Balance the inbound flow of materials that support the manufacturing lines while also ensuring we are meeting our inventory KPI’s
- Manage PO's in accordance with defined inventory targets (ABC order policies & MOQ)
- Ensure PO unit pricing does not exceed Std. Material costs and push-back on supplier price increases
- Be proactive and take immediate action to address and resolve issues to minimize delays in production
- Negotiates volume price breaks with suppliers
- Identifies potential supplier shortages/capacity issues and collaborates with internal team members to help drive work prioritization
- Ensure the technical issues are escalated and mitigated with stakeholder support
- Work with suppliers to resolve issues impacting, but no limited to, performance, quality, lead-time, delivery, invoice discrepancies, and drive appropriate actions when needed
- Ensure MRP is updated with the correct purchased part parameters
- Responsible for satisfying the needs of internal and external customers by responding to requests, understanding requirements while building successful & productive customer relationships
- Continuously seeks ways to improves processes and participates in quality improvement teams when appropriate
- Ensure Production Planning team has been informed of potential supplier shipment delays
- Escalates supply related issues to leadership in timely manner.
- Manage RTV’s with vendors as needed
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 6 months of Purchasing experience or 1 year working in Supply Chain related role
- High school diploma or equivalent required. AA degree in, Purchasing, or Supply Chain Management preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills – ability to work with individuals across a broad range of functions and varying seniority
- Ability to identify problems and takes initiative to resolve problems
- High motivation to learn, develop and perform in a fast-paced environment
- This position is not remote and requires individual to be onsite Monday thru Friday
Skills, Abilities & Technical Requirements:
- Hands-on experience in Microsoft Excel
- Able to extract drawings and specifications from Doc Control system and confirm correct documentation is shared with suppliers
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to track cost savings
- Experience working in ERP system (e.g., QAD, SAP)
- Shows initiative by assisting other team members when requested
- Organized self-starter with good reasoning skills
- Other duties as assigned
Accountability
This position is under ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and must meet export control compliance requirements.
