Job Description


Title: Overhaul Shop Mechanic

Reports to: Manager – Operations and Construction

Location: Gordon, TX

Exemption Status: Non-exempt

Primary Focus:

Perform zero-hour overhauls on engines and compressors. Perform engine swings and commissioning.    


Key Accountabilities:

·        Performs all job functions within the Safety and Environmental policies of Colt Midstream, LLC and Governmental laws and orders

·        Actively participates in Safety program which is to include regular scheduled safety meetings and training up to and including the participating in the investigation and documentation of incidents and accidents involving company and contract personnel

·        Provide technical knowledge and decision-making capabilities to troubleshoot a variety of natural gas engines and compressors

·        Responsible for major overhauls on a variety of engines and compressors

·        Perform preventative maintenance and overhauls on additional equipment including pumps, and other rotating equipment

·        Recording weights and measures (mic readings) of internal components of engine and compressor frames and enter for historical records

·        Remove and replace fuses, gaskets, valves, electric motors and belts, change gauges (temperature, pressure, etc.), filters, oils and other lubricating fluids on equipment

·        Responsible for upkeep and appearance of overhaul shop

·        Shop work setting along with performing engine swings in field

·        Maintains good economic thinking skills while working under tight budgetary demands

·        Continually tracking and updating maintenance schedules related to compression equipment

·        Collaborates well with direct supervisor to develop procedures and ideas on improving overall maintenance program


Physical Demands:

·        While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; feel and reach with hands and arms; the employee is required to reach with hands and arms above his head as well as stoop and kneel to reach items below his normal reach

·        The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear

·        The employee is occasionally required to use sense of smell

·        Performs minor maintenance as necessary with medium to heavy lifting requirements; the employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

·        Specific vision abilities required by this job include good vision


Work Environment:

·        Must be able to work unsupervised

·        Occasional long hours due to tight deadlines

·        Must be able to remain calm and focused during emergency or high-stress situations

·        Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts

·        Work in high, precarious places

·        Work near toxic or caustic chemicals

·        The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration

·        The noise level in the work environment may be above 90 dBA. Must be able to use hearing protection

·        Expected to work well with others, mentor less-qualified personnel, and treat others with respect


Qualifications:

Education:

·        High School Diploma/GED required

 

Experience & Skills:

·        Minimum five years’ experience in a mechanical background

·        Requires basic knowledge of various computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel

·        Waukesha and Caterpillar maintenance experience required

·        Experience with Waukesha ESM & CAT Adem III Panels along with Engine and Compression Electrical Experience

·        Valid driver’s license and excellent vehicle driving record

·        Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

·        Attention to details

·        Self-motivated and driven

·        High integrity
