Our client, a growing student housing provider in Berkeley, is seeking a Portfolio Analyst to support strategic decision-making through data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, who is highly proficient in Excel and capable of building complex financial models. The Portfolio Analyst will play a critical role in portfolio management, quarterly reporting, and driving data-driven insights.


Key Responsibilities:


Financial Modeling & Data Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models to support portfolio performance evaluation and decision-making.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the portfolio.
  • Provide analytical support for investment decisions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and capital allocation.


Quarterly Reporting:

  • Own the preparation of quarterly financial and operational reports, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with various teams to gather data, validate findings, and present comprehensive reports to senior management.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to track portfolio performance.


Portfolio Management & Strategy:

  • Support portfolio management by analyzing asset performance and recommending adjustments to optimize profitability.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.
  • Provide insights on market trends and competitive dynamics that impact portfolio strategy.


Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support:

  • Work closely with the finance, operations, and property management teams to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Support ad-hoc analysis and special projects as needed.


Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, preferably within real estate or property management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including building and maintaining complex financial models.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle large datasets.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and portfolio management principles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
