About the Role:
Position: Food Scientist specializing in bakery products
Reports to: Director of Research and Development
Location: Bell, California (On-site)
Schedule: Flexible start time between 6 AM and 8 AM
What You'll Do:
Drive innovation in bakery product development, especially tortillas
Create and refine formulas using cutting-edge ingredients and techniques
Conduct hands-on production and testing in our state-of-the-art lab
Analyze results and present findings to guide product improvements
Provide expert support to our clients and sales team
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Baking Science, or related field
2+ years of experience in bakery product development
Strong hands-on baking skills and commercial bakery experience (preferred)
Expertise with key ingredients like :
- Baking powder for leavening and texture
- Preservatives (calcium propionate, potassium sorbate, etc.)
- Emulsifiers (mono and diglycerides, lecithin)
- Shelf-life extenders (enzymes, CMC gum, xanthan gum, etc.) Creative problem-solving and excellent communication skills
Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
