Our Challenge:
As a Senior Java Developer, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the business to work on complex technical requirements. You will be responsible for managing multiple engagements, prioritize and resolve complex problems and escalate as necessary, in a fast-paced environment.
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Capital Markets Solutions Development: Design and implement robust Java-based solutions to support trading, risk management, and data analysis within capital markets. Work closely with traders, quants, and analysts to understand requirements and deliver high-quality software.
- Financial Instruments and Data Handling: Develop and maintain systems that handle real-time and historical data related to various financial instruments. Ensure accurate processing of trades, positions, P&L calculations, and market data feeds.
- Python/Big Data Integration: Utilize Python and Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) to process large datasets and perform complex calculations. Integrate Java applications with Python scripts and Big Data platforms for analytics and reporting.
- System Architecture: Contribute to the architecture and design of new and existing systems to ensure scalability and performance. Adopt and advocate for best practices in software development, including test-driven development and continuous integration.
- Performance Tuning: Optimize Java applications for high performance and efficiency in a high-throughput environment. Analyze and improve system latency and processing times.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver projects. Mentor junior developers and promote a culture of technical excellence.
Requirements:
You are:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Java development and 5+ years within the financial services or capital markets industry.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and instruments, including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and FX.
- Proficiency in Java with a good understanding of underlying JVM principles.
- Experience with Python, and familiarity with Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
- Solid understanding of multi-threading, concurrency, and distributed systems design.
- Experience with Spring Framework, Hibernate, and RESTful web services.
- Proficient in SQL and experience with relational databases.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
It would be great if you also had:
- Experience with front office trading systems or risk management platforms.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks within capital markets.
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
