Equipment Engineer (Substation Field Engineering) - Full Time

Schedule: 3 days/week onsite in NYC
Salary: 100k - 140k annual salary + 6-7% bonus

Required Skills and Experience *
6+ years experience as an Equipment and/or Electrical Engineer
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Preferably Electrical)
Expertise in the development, design, specifications, and technical principles of substation equipment
Experience procuring substation equipment and interfacing with manufacturers and/or AE firms
Prior working knowledge of electrical equipment and power systems such as, HV and MV circuit breakers, power transformers, MV switchgear, capacitor banks, gas-insulated substations (GIS), instrument transformers, dc systems, test sets, etc.
Familiarity with applicable codes and industry standards
Physical Demands:
Must be able to work in and around substations that are under construction and/or in service.
The positions involve working around electrical equipment, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, and ladder climbing.
A driver's license is required for travel within service territory.
Must be available to work additional hours, as needed, for system emergencies or equipment outage schedules.

Looking for a Senior Equipment Engineer to join the Substation Field Engineering team and provide the specification preparation, purchase, construction, and maintenance support for major substation electrical equipment (HV and MV circuit breakers, power transformers, MV switchgear, capacitor banks, gas-insulated substations (GIS), instrument transformers, dc systems, test sets, etc.). In this role, you will interface with equipment manufacturers' to prepare electrical equipment and accessory purchase specifications, evaluate vendor drawings and proposals, ensure industry standards, perform vendor qualification activities and confirm that necessary equipment is suitable for company transmission and area substations. You will assist in maintenance and testing procedures for equipment commissioning both on and off the field, as well as budget planning and review of scoping documents and bid proposals. Looking for an individual who is technically sound and comfortable providing field analysis of equipment and developing reports on system failure when needed. Excellent written and verbal communication, determination and passion for the industry is required to be successful in the role.
