If so, we want to hear from you LaSalle Network has partnered with a growing healthcare system in search of a Senior Inpatient Coder.

Senior Inpatient Coder Responsibilities:

  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes to a variety of inpatient medical records in accordance with AHIMA ethical guidelines
  • Analyze complex medical documentation to identify the principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures and other relevant medical services
  • Maintain a high level of coding accuracy and productivity in accordance with established coding guidelines and regulations (e.g., AHA Coding Clinic, CMS guidelines)
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest coding updates and industry trends
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies
  • Educate and mentor junior coding staff (may be applicable)
  • Participate in internal audits and quality improvement initiatives to ensure continued coding excellence


Sr. Inpatient Coder Requirements:

  • Active AHIMA certification (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA) is mandatory
  • 3+ years of experience in inpatient coding
  • Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in medical terminology and anatomy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in hospital coding software (e.g., EPIC, Cerner)
