Cabling Technicians assemble and arrange material and equipment, explain and verify service orders, drawings, specifications, particular needs, and instructions, run, pull, stop and splice copper and fiber optic cables, such as CAT5, SE, CAT6, low voltage cables, and fiber, mount telecom equipment while adhering to best practices, industry standards, and manufacturer requirements, aid in arranging routers, hubs, install support structures, including racks, ladders, and j-hooks, and switches using data provided by all teams within the organization, install access control systems and surveillance cameras, and maintain good relations with clients by listening to and then sorting out their issues or escalations as necessary

Required Skills -

They need to be at least 2 years experience in the cabling system and be conversant with the installation of copper cables. Fiber optic cables are a plus.

Technicians must install closet hardware, including connecting blocks, fiber enclosures, racks, backboards, and patch panels.

They should be able to work on all aspects of telecommunication industry when required, such as wiring practices, underground work, color code and terminations.

They must be willing to work overtime and be ready to travel as the need arises.

Requires valid drivers license or CDL.

Job Duties -

Conducts collection and presentation of field data of wireless network as required during Survey and Post-Install site visits.

Performs basic network cabling as required on per site basis.

Ability to identify of telephony equipment i.e. CSU/DCU, smart jacks, 66 & 110 blocks and other network equipment as needed.

Performs manual cross connect functions on telephony blocks and/or patch panels.

Uses computer inputs to create, modify, and/or correct database contents on network management devices.

Knowledge and experience in configuring Cisco network switches and wireless access points.

Able to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Visio to create site as-built documents.

Knowledge and experience in using Air Magnet WiFi Analyzer software.

Job Requirements -

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have unimpaired hearing, able to communicate orally and via telephone. Ability to distinguish between colors, read printed material, lift/carry 60 pounds, climb stairs/ladders, must be able to kneel, stoop, crouch, or work in other uncomfortable positions to accomplish tasks. Must have good hand/eye coordination and be able to work with hand tools.
