We help policymakers, researchers, and institutions understand potential futures before they unfold.Role DescriptionThis is a part-time, 3 month remote role for a Research Intern specializing in AI/ML at the Applied Policy and Economics Simulation (APES) Lab. As a Research Intern, you will contribute to ongoing AI/ML research projects by developing machine learning models, conducting data analysis, and writing research reports. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to explore innovative solutions to real-world policy and economic challenges using AI/ML methodologies. Research interns are expected to work 16-20 hours a week. QualificationsProficiency in machine learning techniques, data modeling, and artificial intelligence principlesStrong programming skills, preferably in Python or R, and experience with frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorchFamiliarity with data cleaning, preprocessing, and visualization toolsExperience working with large datasets, conducting statistical analyses, and deriving insightsStrong research skills, including the ability to review literature and synthesize research findingsExcellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesEffective communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts in a clear and concise mannerBachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data science, AI/ML, economics, or a related field (students currently enrolled in such programs are encouraged to apply)Interest in policy and economics applications of AI/ML is a plusExperience producing academic and scholarly papersCompensation$5,000 stipend to be paid at end of the 3 month internshipEligible for college credit
