Our Sacramento office is currently seeking an attorney to join our labor and employment practice group. Our labor and employment team provides counsel to hundreds of public school districts and other public agencies throughout California.

The expertise covers the full spectrum of labor and employment law including hiring employees and drafting employment contracts, to collective bargaining, contract grievances and matters of discrimination, retaliation, and misconduct, to layoffs, discipline, and dismissals. The ideal candidate will have preferably with 3+ years of experience in employment law. Interest in public agency law is essential.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on employment matters related to public agency and education law.
  • Assist clients in developing and implementing employment policies and procedures, and conduct training sessions on topics such as harassment prevention, workplace safety, and employment law updates.
  • Represent clients in labor and employment disputes, including administrative hearings, mediation, arbitration, and litigation in state and federal courts.
  • Negotiate collective bargaining agreements on behalf of public agency clients, and provide ongoing support and advice during labor contract administration.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on complex labor and employment issues, and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents to support client needs and litigation strategies.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member of the California State Bar.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of practicing experience, preferably with a focus on public agency and school district matters.
  • Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of California public agency and employment/education laws.
