Purchasing Agent

Position Summary:

The MEI Purchasing Agent leads the company’s overall procurement efforts. The MEI Purchasing Agent assists in cultivating relationships with vendors and customers. This agent will need to demonstrate leadership characteristics while developing strong relationships with MEI field management, project managers, and company executives.

MEI Purchasing Agent Responsibilities:

• Review pricing with vendors and manufacturers.
• PO Data base and tracking
• Track/follow up on orders.
• Research and resolve vendor pricing issues.
• Source best prices / quality / service.
• Communication with vendors to mitigate long lead items and back orders.
• Negotiate and purchase commodity buyouts.
• Assist and coordinate of delivery of company owned tools and equipment with the tool and equipment manager.
• Provide purchasing support to meet project’s schedule.
• Coordinate and return of excess material with vendors and suppliers, including flowing up on credits for returned material.
• Provide quotes and product information to estimate pricing and availability.

MEI Purchasing Agent Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective communicator.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and construction accounting software
• Competence in industry software such as Kojo and Procore
• Understanding of risk management
• Negotiation and business relations skills.
• Highly organized, detailed-oriented, and efficient while managing expectations.
• Ability to present self in a professional manner and represent the company image.

MEI Purchasing Agent Qualifications:

• Purchasing or electrical construction experience
• Knowledgeable of electrical installation including a working knowledge of contract documents, projects estimate, and construction specifications.
• Time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
